The RadExIORSBoost Horizon Europe Project team successfully organized training ”How to budget EU proposals, pre-award phase” at the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia from 8 to 9 December 2025.
In the first session of the training, Dr. Sean Jinks, from the Pre-award and Contracts, Research and Enterprise Division, at the University of Leicester, presented an overview of the Pre-award and Contracts, costing and budget preparation, and contracting procedures for EU projects.
In the second session, Dr. Ralf Weigel, Medical Faculty of Mannheim, Heidelberg University, gave a presentation on the Support services at Medical Faculty of Mannheim, while Dr. Moritz Vogel, Heidelberg University, presented the activities of the Heidelberg Research Service.
On the second day of the training in the third session, colleagues from the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana presented the Legal Department (Ana Kodrič Požun), Human Resources Department (Bojan Veberič), Public Procurement and Purchasing Department (Aleš Batinić, Petra Hromc), and Financial Department (Snežana Glamočanin, Zorica Božić). They explained how each department supports project setting and project management.
Fourth training session “Key steps in writing a successful project proposal” was focused on the preparation of different sections of project proposals and the most important evaluation criteria. Participants had the unique opportunity to learn from the eminent experts and project leaders from project partner institutions. Prof. Dr. Maja Čemažar delivered an exceptional lecture titled “Important steps in EU project proposal application”. Prof. Dr. Christopher Talbot, Prof. Dr. Marlon Veldwijk, and Dr. Miroslav Mišík also provided their expertise and experience in developing project proposals.
The training achieved all expected objectives in knowledge transfer and networking among participating institutions, with the main goal to significantly improve the administrative and project management skills necessary for the pre-award project management phase and successful applications of upcoming project proposals.
