RadExIORSBoost project team in a visit to the Elementary School “Vuk Karadžić”

The RadExIORSBoost project team members visited enthusiastic scholars in the 6th grade at the Elementary School “Vuk Karadžić” in Belgrade on 26 November 2025.

The team organized an incredible “Science Detectives in the World of Radiation!” class in the school ceremonial hall, led by Dr. Nađa Grozdanić (IORS), and the Interactive Learning part led by Dr. Ivana Matić and Dr. Tatjana Stanojković. Nađa, Tatjana, and Ivana were on hand to guide the scholars through the hands-on experiments and demonstrations.
Scholars learned about the main sources of radiation and biological effects of radiation, including radiation therapy. The RadExIORSBoost team members introduced our EU-funded project and its mission: to improve cancer treatment safety by predicting individual normal tissue radiosensitivity. The pupils were amazed to see how scientists use the comet assay to determine the levels of damaged DNA.

The RadEXIORSBoost project would like to thank the dedicated teachers who attended: Biology Teacher Ružica Baltić, Librarian Vesna Jocković, and French/English Teacher Blaženka Babić.
