In parallel with our latest workshop, the RadExIORSBoost project team members, Dr. Nina Petrović, Dr. Nađa Grozdanić Stanisavljević, Dr. Tatjana Stanojković, and Dr. Ivana Matić, conducted a short-term training visit at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana from 2 February to 6 February 2026. This training visit provided participants with intensive, hands-on experience in advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques. The visit was designed to mirror a complete experimental pipeline, guided by the experts in the field: Dr. Urška Kamenšek, Dr. Barbara Lisec, Dr. Maša Omerzel, and Dr. Boštjan Markelc.
Training participants were introduced to the Bacterial Lab facilities and began with bacterial inoculation for plasmid preparation. The training moved to reporter plasmid isolation and DNA restriction. After performing restriction analysis via agarose gel electrophoresis, the team conducted in vitro gene electrotransfer of reporter plasmids. The training concluded with the evaluation of transfection efficiency to measure the success of the gene electrotransfer process.
The final day of the successful and productive short-term visit was dedicated to brainstorming among RadExIORSBoost team members for future project proposals. By combining training with strategic planning, the short-term visit has strengthened the scientific excellence and collaborative ties between the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia (IORS) and project team from the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana (OI LJUBLJANA) to skyrocket research standards through direct knowledge transfer.
